A quite rare small Bow Blanc de Chine cream jug with applied moulded prunus, but unusually with added polychrome floral sprigs. Unmarked.

This small early Bow cream jug has a squat & bulbous shape, with applied prunus, & the body
The jug has a typical handle shape for Bow Blanc de Chine porcelain, it is often found on cups also.
As can be seen above, the creamer has the usual Bow applied prunus, & the floral sprays are quite simple in design. It is unusual to find Blanc de Chine pieces with this added decoration, there are similarly decorated examples of a sugar bowl, a plate, and a teabowl & saucer (items 21, 22, & 30 respectively) in the book "Bow Porcelain: The Geoffrey Freeman Collection" by Anton Gabszewics. Further examples can be found in the catalogues of the Watney sale.
The spout looks quite flat in the picture above, but it is not chipped. Here you can see the larger prunus decoration.
The picture below shows the small flat chip to the rim. Note also the fine crazing to the body which probably occured when the jug was fired after the enamel colouring was added, & the strange blue & yellow insects which seem to have been so popular in the mid 18th Century.
